The Wacky World of College Football
by Tom Freese
Last Saturday there were seven double-digit College Football underdogs that won their games straight up! In doing so, these teams beat the collective pointspread by 195 points!
Rice beat Southern Mississippi 31-29 as 20.5-point dogs.
Utah beat Louisville 44-35 as 15-point dogs.
Northwestern beat Michigan St 48-41 as 15.5-point dogs.
Central Michigan beat Ball St 58-38 as 12.5-point dogs.
San Diego St beat Colorado St 24-20 as 13-point dogs.
Notre Dame beat UCLA 20-6 as 22-point dogs.
Stanford beat USC 24-23 as 40-point dogs in what will go down as one of biggest upsets in College Football History.
Last Saturday was wacky in another way as 11 teams won games straight up despite losing the stats on the playing field by over 100 yards. Those were: Fresno St (-227 yards), South Carolina (-225 yards), Stanford (-224 yards), Rice (-186 yards), Army (-161 yards), Virginia Tech (-161 yards), Arizona State (-155 yards), Notre Dame (-142 yards), Maryland (-141 yards), UL Lafayette (-113 yards), Illinois (-109 yards).
Please note that Maryland has a bye this Saturday. My advice is that you Play Against the three teams that show up on both of the above lists. They are Rice, Notre Dame, and Stanford.
